Mom came down for a visit around Valentine's day. She took Marcie and I to Color me Mine for a girls night out.  These are the final products.  It was very relaxing and fun to do; a chance to be creative.  Another great gift that I received were some cake dummies.  I have been looking for these all over but never found any.  My mom is a miracle worker when it comes to finding things!  After work the other day, I decided to play around with some fondant.  That turned into decorating a cake.  I have never made roses like these before and they turned out to be quite easy.

All you need is Love!

Yes, love is in the air!  It is a really busy time at the bakery.  Who knew that so many people would order heart shaped sugar cookies???  It was just the beginning of February and people had already begun to order.  seriously people! Couldn't you have just made your own sugar cookies? That what my mom and I did.  You know, bonding time :)  Oh well, I guess thats why i have a job.  My favorite thing about this month though...strawberry valentine's dessert! yum!  I saw this picture of a gumball machine on the computer and so I made one for my parents and for my sister.  I'm going to be making my own so a picture will be posted later.  I just thought they were really cute.  So, it being Valentines, I was thinking of everything I love.  There are way too many to put in a post but Just to name a few...I love my family, pretty snowy days, nice sunny days to follow, friends, food, and so much more :)  Happy Valentine's day everyone!

Back tracking: Christmas Presents

So, I did not post these pictures before Christmas because they were Christmas presents and I didn't want them to see.  I had been thinking and thinking of what to make my parents for Christmas.  I ended up making my dad one of those bean bags that you heat up and I made my mom this snowflake piano runner.  She just got the piano and I noticed at Thanksgiving that she had put a runner on it so, wham bam, there's my idea for her present!  In our home, January is the month of snowmen and snowflakes.  I printed off all of the snowflake patterns and cut them out of fabric and stitched them on.  I was down to last second finishing it (Christmas eve) but it got done and I think she liked it.  The ornament is styrofoam, fabric, and pins.  I made this one for my friend.

Well I did it. I completed my first wedding cake and what a great way to end 2011.  I could not be more grateful for my aunt and uncle for letting me do this for them and for my mom for helping and encouraging me along the way.  So we are on to a new year and I hope that it will bring many more opportunities for me to grow and make more people happy on their special days.  Happy New Years :)
